TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona men's basketball team is preparing for a busy summer vacation, as the team is scheduled to take a 23-day tour of Australia. The tour features 10-game exhibition schedule and begins immediately following the completion of final exams.

Running from May 11-June 2, the tour marks the program's fifth international expedition under coach Lute Olson, and the third consecutive to the continent of Australia. The Wildcats' previous international experience includes excursions to Europe in the summers of 1985 and 1989, and to Australia in 1993 and 1997. Cumulatively, UA has an international record of 28-15 (.651) on the four tours, but more importantly, the squad has posted a 107-27 (.799) record with four Pac-10 titles earned in the seasons immediately following those trips.

All told, the Wildcats will visit six Australian cities beginning in Canberra on Monday, May 13, with continuing stops in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns. Arizona plays its first game on Wed., May 15 vs. Canberra. Other game dates include May 16, May20, May 22, May 24, May 25, May 26, May 29, May 30 and June 1.

Several sightseeing events are also built into the schedule, including an Australian Rules Football game in Melbourne on May 19, a white-water rafting trip in Cairns on May 29, and a Great Barrier Reef boat trip on May 31. Additionally, the players will enjoy a handful of "free days" in nearly every city were they can enjoy diversions of their own choosing.

A total of 10 players will be making the trip: juniors Rick Anderson, Jason Gardner and Luke Walton; sophomore Jason Ranne; and freshmen Will Bynum, Isaiah Fox, Channing Frye, Dennis Latimore, Salim Stoudamire and Andrew Zahn.
