Scoresheet

The Arizona gymnastics team won its fourth straight meet, beating California 194.625-191.375 Sunday afternoon in Berkeley, Calif.

The Gymcats beat the host Golden Bears in all four events and earned their second highest score of the season.

"We're very happy with the win, but we'd like to be above the 195 mark," said Arizona head coach Bill Ryden. "We had some good performances, but feel like we could have been better."

Arizona started on bars and put together a team score of 48.675 compared to Cal’s 47.225. Junior Sarah Tomczyk and freshman Britnie Jones tied for team-highs with 9.775.

On the vault, the team put together it’s highest score of the meet. The Wildcats posted a 48.875 to beat the Bears’ 48.375 led by senior Bree Workman, who won the event with a 9.875.

Workman also had the meet’s best score on floor where Arizona scored a 48.600 to Cal’s 48.050.

The Wildcats closed the meet with a 48.475 on beam and beat Cal’s 47.725. Freshman Katie Matusik led the way with a 9.8 and had the best beam score of the meet.

"We learned some things about ourselves and our lineup that will help us the rest of the way," Ryden said.

With the win, Arizona won its second straight over a Pac-10 opponent and fourth meet victory in the last three weeks.

The Gymcats return to Tucson to host their last home meet of the season next Friday, March 6th when they welcome Denver to McKale at 7:00 p.m.
