TUCSON, Ariz.Following a perfect 2-0 weekend on the road, the Arizona volleyball (11-8, 3-5 Pac-12) team returns home to face No. 3 Oregon (16-1, 7-1 Pac-12) and Oregon State (13-7, 3-5 Pac-12) this weekend inside the McKale Center.  

The Wildcats will host No. 3 Oregon on Friday at 6 p.m. and Oregon State on Sunday at 11 a.m. Both matches will air live on the Pac-12 Networks. Friday’s match will be the annual Dig Pink night for breast cancer awareness. Fans wearing pink will get half price admission at the ticket office. Meanwhile, Sunday’s match will be just prior to the Arizona Basketball Red-Blue Game.

Arizona picked up two key road victories over the weekend at Utah and Colorado. The two wins were the first road wins for the Wildcats this season.

Sophomore Madi Kingdon (Phoenix, Ariz.) was phenomenal on the weekend as she recorded a pair of double-doubles. She recorded a career-high 28 kills to go along with 14 digs in the win over Utah on Friday then followed that up with 15 kills and 13 digs in the victory at Colorado on Sunday.

Kingdon leads the Wildcats and ranks third in the Pac-12 in kills at 4.31 per set, while ranking seventh in the league in points at 4.65 per set. Junior libero Candace Nicholson (Long Beach, Calif.) leads the squad and ranks fifth in the conference in digs with 4.10 per set. Meanwhile, after recording nine service aces over the weekend, Chanel Brown (Tempe, Ariz.) ranks sixth in the Pac-12 for service aces with 0.32 aces per set and she ranks ninth in assists at 7.74 assists per set.

Following this weekend’s matches, Arizona will hit the road to take on Stanford and California. The Wildcats will face No. 2 Stanford on Wednesday, Oct. 24 before playing Cal on Friday, Oct. 26.

Oregon (16-1, 7-1 Pac-12)

Match Time: 6 p.m.

Location: Tucson, Ariz.

Arena: McKale Center

Series: Arizona leads, 41-14

Last Time Out: Oregon defeated Arizona, 3-0 on November 6, 2011 in Tucson.

Series History vs. Oregon

The Ducks swept the season series against the Wildcats last season. Oregon won both matches last season in straight sets. The Cats lead the all-time series against the Ducks, 41-14. Arizona has won four straight matches against Utah and eight of the last 10.

Scouting Oregon

The Ducks are off to their best start in school history as they just knocked off previously unbeaten Washington last weekend. Oregon ranks first in the NCAA in assists (14.85 p/s) and kills (15.78 p/s), while ranking second in the Pac-12 in service aces (1.44 p/s). Meanwhile, setter Lauren Plum leads the nation in assists at 12.98 per set. Alaina Bergsma leads the Pac-12 in points with 5.18 per set.

Oregon State (13-5, 3-5 Pac-12)

Match Time: 11 a.m.

Location: Tucson, Ariz.

Series: Arizona leads, 40-13

Last Time Out: The Wildcats defeated Oregon State 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-17) in Tucson on November 4, 2011.

Series History vs. Oregon State

The Wildcats lead the all-time series against the Beavers, 40-13. Arizona won both meetings against Oregon State last year and the Beavers have not defeated the Wildcats in Tucson since 1993.

Scouting the Beavers

Oregon State ranks second in the Pac-12 in digs at 15.61 per set and are led by Becky Defoe, who leads the league in digs at 5.22 per set. The Beavers are the only team so far this season that has knocked off No. 1 Penn State. OSU defeated Penn State in the Chicago Classic at the beginning of September.
