WALNUT CREEK, Calif. ?- University of Arizona gymnasts Jamie Holton and Karin Wurm have been named to the 2007 Pacific-10 Conference women’s gymnastics All-Conference teams, the league office announced on Tuesday. The All-Conference accolades are the first of their kind for and Holton, who earned recognition on both floor and beam, and Wurm, who was selected as an all-arounder.

The All-Conference teams consist of the top six all-around competitors, plus the top three competitors in each individual event not  among the all-around selections. Individuals may earn All-Conference honors in multiple individual events. A gymnast's score is determined by a combination of 50 percent regional qualifying score (entire season composite) and 50 percent Pacific-10 Conference Championship score.

Holton, a 5-5 senior, has complied a sensational senior season, leading the Wildcats on floor with five individual titles in nine top five finishes. She has scored a 9.850 or higher in nine of the team’s 12 meets to date, including a 9.875 to earn a share of fifth place at the Pac-10 Championships last Saturday night in Tempe, Ariz. On March 9 at a quad-meet in Raleigh, N.C., she tallied a mark of 9.950 on floor, the fifth-highest in program history.

A native of Phoenix, Ariz., Holton turned in her best season on the balance beam. She entered 2007 with a career high of 9.825 set last season, and had earned a 9.800 on only two previous occasions. However, in her senior campaign, Holton reached or surpassed the 9.800 mark on seven occasions, highlighted by two scores of 9.875, a new career high tally. At the Pac-10 Championships, she notched a 9.850 to lead all Wildcat gymnasts and claim a share of eighth place.

Wurm, a 5-4 junior, placed sixth in the all-around at the Pac-10 Championships, as she matched her career total of 39.425, which she set in the previous meet on March 23. Her total fell just 0.025 points shy of earning her a share of third place overall in the meet. She finished the regular season portion of her junior campaign ranked No. 5 in the Pac-10 in the all-around and No. 21 in the nation, with an RQS of 39.350. On the year, she claimed five all-around titles to go along with seven scores of 39.000 or better, including a current stretch of five in a row.

A native of Landenberg, Pa., Wurm claimed second place on the uneven parallel bars at the Pac-10 Championships after matching her career high score of 9.925. On the season, Wurm finished tied for second in the conference in the event with a RQS of 9.910, and ranks No. 7 in the nation heading into NCAA regional competition. In all, she has captured seven individual bars titles on the season, while earning a score of 9.900 or better six times. Because of her selection to the All-Conference team as an all-arounder, she was not eligible to be named to the All-Conference team on bars.

Last week, Wurm was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic First Team for a second consecutive year. She boasts a 3.82 grade point average as a marketing major.

As a sophomore a season ago, Wurm qualified individually as an all-arounder for the NCAA Championships. During Session I, she totaled a 39.025 to place 16th.

The Wildcats will next compete at the 2007 South Central Regional in McKale Center on Saturday, April 14.
