WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - University of Arizona sophomore Alicia Hollowell earned her second consecutive and seventh Pac-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week award after another weekend full of victories and strikeouts in the circle for the Wildcats.

Hollowell went 3-0 and struck out 38 in two victories over No. 7 Stanford and a near-perfect game against Oklahoma State in UA's Worth Wildcat tournament last weekend. She improved to 14-0 on the year and carries a 0.71 ERA with 179 strikeouts in 88 and one-third innings pitched.

Against the Cowgirls, she struck out 17, one shy of her career best, and missed hurling a perfect game by giving up only one single against 22 batters faced.

In Arizona's 7-5 come-from-behind victory over Stanford on Sunday, Hollowell was roughed up some by the Cardinal, allowing five earned runs and a couple of long balls. But when the Cats regained the lead for good, she set down the Cardinal in order in the seventh.

At 21-0, Arizona is off to an outstanding start. The school record for best record to open a season is the 31-0 marks by the 1994 and 2001 clubs. UA also opened 30-0 in 1997.
