TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona women's tennis team (4-8) competed against No. 13 Fresno State (13-2). In one of its closest matches of the season, Arizona lost two of three doubles matches and three of six singles matches for the overall loss, 4-3.

In doubles action, senior Debbie Larocque and freshman Kasia Jakowlew, playing for the first time together this season, were the first to complete their match. They played in the second position against Fresno State's team of Lucia Sainz and Katharina Winterhalter and lost, 8-2. The next match to finish came on court 3. Junior Kelly Perry and freshman Jessie Rochefort defeated the team of Anca Anastasiu and Dianne Matias, 8-2. A match between Arizona's duo of juniors Maja Mlakar and Dianne Hollands, and Fresno State's pair of Jelena Pandzic and Lucia Tallo decided the doubles point. The close match eventually ended in a win for Fresno State, 8-6.

Later in the afternoon junior Maja Mlakar competed against Jelena Pandzic and lost, 6-0, 6-3. Junior Dianne Hollands was the second to complete her match as she competed in the second position. Hollands easily defeated Fresno State's Lucia Tallo, 6-2, 6-1. The next match to be completed came on court 3 where senior Debbie Larocque lost in two close sets, 7-6, 7-5. On court 5, freshman Jessie Rochefort came from behind to defeat Lucia Sainz in three sets, 6-7, 6-1, 6-4. Sophomore Iza Ferreira was the next to complete her match on court 6. Ferreira defeated Courtney Janz in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. This placed the overall contest at a 3-3 tie with one match to be completed. The final match came on court 4 where junior Kelly Perry competed against Vlatka Jovanovic. After three sets of competition, Perry was unable to come away with the win, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.

The Wildcats will get right back to action tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. against the No. 21 Tulane Green Wave. The match will take place at the Wildcats home facility, the Lanelle Robson Tennis Center.
