TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona Wildcat men's golf team finished the first two rounds of the Fresno State Lexus Classic with a total of 718 (-2) for fifth place. The tournament, hosted by Fresno State, is held at the Fort Washington Country Club, a par-72, 6765-yard course.

Oregon State currently resides in first place with a two-round total of 707 (-13). Eight strokes behind the Ducks are Sacramento State and UC Irvine with scores of 715 (-5). In the individual race, UC Irvine's Michael Yang has a four-stroke lead for first place with a total of 135 (-9). Teammate Allan Jun sits in a tie for second with Oregon State's Nick Sherwood with scores of 139 (-5). Oregon State's Alex More also broke into the top five with a two-round total of 140 (-4), and is in a tie for fourth place with five others, two of which are from second-place Sacramento State, Jake Johnson and Grant Rappleye.

For the Wildcats, junior Juan Pablo Hernandez and sophomore Erik Ojafinished under par with scores of 141 (-3) and 143 (-1), respectively. Hernandez's three under puts him in a tie for tenth place with six others, including conference foes Matt Rawitzer of Oregon State and Trent Sanders of Washington State. After shooting a first-round 77, Oja came back with an impressive 66 (-6) in the second round to finish the day in a tie for 20th place.

Competing as an individual, freshman Alex McMahon finished in a tie for 33rd place and one over for the two rounds with a score of 145. Also in the 33rd-place tangle are junior Trent Redfern and freshman Brenden Redfern.

The final eighteen holes of the Fresno State Lexus Classic will begin Tuesday, March 6 with the first holes teeing off at 8:00 a.m. PT. Live scoring will be available through golfstat.com.
