TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona men's golf will open the Spring 2002 portion of its schedule ranked No. 18 nationally in the Precept/CGAA Top-25 Coaches poll in voting released Tuesday by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Arizona totaled 392 points in balloting done by all NCAA Division I men's golf member coaches to rank 18th nationally in the rankings. Georgia Tech tops the poll, the first edition this spring, with 1,083 points, while Wake Forest (1,079) and Oklahoma State (1,041) round out the top three places. Arizona has been ranked in the top 20 nationally in each poll released during the 2001-02 season.

The Precept/CGAA Coaches Poll allows every GCAA member to vote for the nation's top 25 team in his school's respective division. Rankings will be released biweekly beginning Thursday, Feb. 7.

The Wildcats, who entered the fall as the nation's second-ranked team, posted two top-five finishes as a team in four fall events. The Arizona men's golf team is back in action on Feb. 4-5 at the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson. The 54-hole event will be contested at The Raven at Sabino Springs, a par 71, 6,776-yard layout.
