TUCSON, Ariz. -

Arizona women’s tennis head coach Vicky Maes is the recipient of the USTA/ITA Sectional National Campus and Community Outreach Award, the ITA announced this week.

Every year, the USTA/ITA Campus & Community Outreach Award is given to a college coach who provides a leadership role in increasing tennis participation throughout the community, both on and off campus.

Under Maes’ direction, Arizona has participated in Campus Kids’ Days, Love of Reading, Kids Day on Campus, Special Olympics and other community activities.

"Tennis has given me a lot of opportunities over the years," Maes said. "It has taken me all over the world, both as a player and a coach. It has directed my career and I am grateful to The University of Arizona and its community for allowing me to pass on my love of the game. My goal will always be to inspire others to participate in sports, as it can open many positive doors."
