TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona head men's basketball coach Sean Miller's rebuilding efforts took another step forward Monday, as the Wildcats returned to the national rankings.

Arizona (15-3, 4-1 Pac-10) was ranked 25th in the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll released today, receiving a total of 60 votes.

It marked Arizona's first appearance in the national rankings since the 2008-09 postseason coaches' poll, which ranked UA 23rd following its run to the 2009 NCAA Tournament regional semifinals. It's also the first time the Wildcats have been nationally ranked during the regular season since being ranked 24th in the Jan. 7, 2008, coaches' poll.

"Our team is excited about being a part of the top 25 once again," said Miller. "We feel good about the fact that we've played some good basketball, and hopefully, we will continue to play well and stay in it. Every program wants to be a part of the national rankings and it's our goal to get this program back to the point where it's a part of the polls from the preseason through the end of March."

The return to the coaches' poll is a fitting one for the Wildcats, as the team has been ranked in 83.5 percent (309 of 370 ranking periods) of those polls since the 1989-90 campaign.

The 25th-ranked Wildcats will next be in action on Thursday, Jan. 20, when the Wildcats travel to Seattle, Wash., to take on 20th-ranked Washington. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PST and will be televised nationally by FSN.
