SOMERS, Wis. – University of Arizona swimmer Jack Brown recorded two wins in No. 3 Arizona's 181-171 dual meet victory over No. 1 Texas this past weekend to garner the Counsilman Hunsaker national swimmer of the week honor .
The senior co-captain won the 200 individual medley (1:48.74, NCAA "B" time) and the 400 individual medley (3:54.55, NCAA "B" time). Brown also swam to a second place in the 200 freestyle (1:38.95), a third place in the 200 breaststroke (2:00.66) and a third place in the 500 freestyle (4:34.41).
Brown currently holds the fastest times in the country in both the 200 and 400 individual medley’s. He went 1:44.05 in the 200 I.M. and 3:44.41 in 400 I.M. at the Texas Invite in early December. Additionally, Brown is second in the nation in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:55.98, behind teammate Clark Burckle, the current leader.
The UA men’s team is coming off wins over No. 1 Texas, No. 2 Stanford and No. 4 California in consecutive weeks and looks to be the top-ranked team when the new poll debuts.
The Cats will wrap up its dual meet schedule with a rivalry contest against Arizona State in Tempe on February 13.
