In the fifth, UNM snapped a streak of 14.2 scoreless innings this weekend with a three-run homer to take the lead, 3-2. Ryanne Hodgins and Samantha Hughes reached with a pair of one-out singles and one batter later, Amy Ray came up with her first hit of the weekend and third home run of the year to give the Lobos a lead.
The Wildcats quickly made up for the one-run deficit by scorching the Lobos for nine runs on seven hits in the sixth. Fox led off with a single and two batters later scored her first of two runs in the inning. With the game tied 3-3, Roth doubled two runs in for her first game-winning hit of the year. Two batters later, Lowe plated Balko with a single with the first of three consecutive run-scoring hits by UA seniors to continue the rally. The scoring spree and the game came to an end when Leles scored Fox with a single up the middle to invoke the eight-run mercy rule.
