TUCSON, Ariz. ?C The Arizona womenˇ?s soccer team defeated Cal Poly, 4-3, in overtime Sunday afternoon at Alex G. Spanos Stadium in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

The win improves Arizona to 1-1-0 and drops Cal Poly to 0-2-0.

Arizona took a 1-0 lead at the 3:25 mark in the first half with a goal by Jasmine Namdar, her first of the year, a shot from the within the 18-yard box on the right side.

At the 24:31 mark Arizona struck again, this time it was Savanah Levake who put a shot pass Mustang goalkeeper Alli Tramel for her first goal of the year.

Cal Poly scored its first goal at the 61:26 mark as Ashley Vallis put her first goal of the year in the left-back corner of the goal.

Arizona extended its lead to 3-1 after Jasmin Day put shot pass Tramel at the 76:23 mark for her first collegiate goal.

Cal Poly scored twice in the final five minutes, with goals by Ally Kellogg and Whitney Sisler.

"We showed a lot of character bouncing back after giving up the 2-0 and 3-1 leads," said Arizona head coach Dan Tobias. "Going into overtime the team was definitely disappointed with the way we let the game get away from us."

Two minutes into overtime Jacqueline Broussard had a chance to end the game but Mustang goalkeeper Alli Tramel saved the ball out of bounds. UA got a corner kick and Claire Bodiya put the ball in the net to end the game and give the Wildcats a 4-3 overtime win.

"I can only describe this game as an interesting, rollercoaster game," said Tobias. "We can take a lot away from this first weekend. We played a lot of players and saw what they could do. We are definitely headed in the right direction."
