Arizona Head Coach Lute Olson

“It was really a hard fought game. They are a very tough team and played hard. They kicked our tails on the glass all game long. Courtney Lee is a very good ball player. He took advantage of us on the glass and he obviously can score points as well.”

“I thought Marcus Williams really played a great game for us. He was 8-9 shooting the other night (vs. Sam Houston State) and he was 6-8 tonight. He really gives us some options coming off the bench. He is active on the glass and is so quick defensively.”

“I thought we played pretty well defensively. We were able to create a lot of turnovers (25). We got the lead because of our effort defensively. We were able to create some turnovers and turn them into points. Then we started giving up threes. They have some great shooters and they were able to make shots even when we had a hand in their face.”

“Our effort on the glass was ridiculous. Guys are just aren’t getting it done.”

“We were able to create a lot of turnovers. We forced 25 and only gave the ball up 12 times. Our guys just need to come out more ready to go and give a complete effort.”

“When we force turnovers we usually score off them. When we got the lead there in the second half we lost a bit of our intensity. They had trouble hitting the first shot, but it was the second and third shots that they were making. We have to do a better job staying active on the boards.”

Western Kentucky played well. They came out and fought hard and executed well.”

On his free throws in overtime:

“I just told myself to stay confident and don’t worry about the one I missed. I work on free throws all the time. I just relaxed and knocked them down.”

“We played three games in the last four days and we were really dragging. But we really picked it up in the second half. We stayed confident and knocked them down.”

Hassan Adams #21

“We are going to rest our legs the next couple of days so we can start the Pac-10 fresh.”

Overtime critical?

“Definitely, especially in overtime we want to make sure that every possession is good, and try to get some good shots.”

How did it effect you when you were down by ten in the first half?

“We don’t let each other get down about it. We just play our game. Everyone played a role.  There was no fear.”

Was the defense a huge part of the game?

“Everyone can be an offensive player and play offense. We try every day to get better at our defense because anyone can play offense. When we lock down on D, it makes the game that much easier.”

What is your mentality over break?

“It’s not going to be a break for me. I don’t want to sit around and do nothing and loose step of what I already have. I’m definitely going to go workout and lift and do whatever I need to do to stay ready.”
