TEMPE, Ariz. - Sophomore Alejandra Llaneza finished at even par to lead #20 Arizona to a 7th place finish at the PING/ASU Invitational, Sunday morning at the ASU Karsten Golf Course.
Llaneza was 1-over par with a 73 in her final round to finish the 54-hole event at even par 216 and finish in 5th place, her best finish of the season. Maria Hernandez of Purdue was the individual winner at 5-under 211.
Freshman Nikki Koller shot 77 on Sunday and finished 13-over for the tournament in a tie for 36th position at 229. Freshman Margarita Ramos rounded out the five-player team with a three-round total of 238 after carding a score of 78 on Sunday.
Freshman Isabelle Boineau, who played as an individual competitor all weekend, shared 20th place overall after carding her second 1-over round of 73 to finish at +9 (225).
Oklahoma State captured the team championship, carding a tournament-low single-day total of 289 to finish at 881, besting Purdue by a single stroke. The Wildcats shot the 4th-lowest round of the day at 296 as both Purdue and New Mexico shot 292.
Arizona begins postseason play at the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif. for the 2009 Pac-10 Championships, April 24-26.
