TUSCON, Ariz.- The Wildcats’ Men’s Golf team improved their score from round one, but didn’t budge in the standings in the CordeValle Collegiate. The team’s round of 381 gave them a total of 767 for the tournament, 47 strokes over par.

Round two looked a lot like round one in that USC continued to dominate. They remain the only team under par (-1), and are 19 strokes ahead of second place Stanford. Arizona is 48 shots off the pace.

USC is also dominating the individual portion of the tournament. The top two golfers are Trojans. Tim Sluiter leads the event at four under, and teammate Matthew Giles trails him by one stroke. Giles was tied for the lead after the first day of action with Sihwan Kim of Stanford. Kim shot a 74 on Tuesday, pushing him back into 6th place.

The tournament, played at CordeValle Country Club in San Martin, Calif., a par 72, 7,169 yard course, requires each team to play six golfers with the top five scores recorded each day. Arizona’s Roberto Galleti put together a brilliant second round. His round of 70 tied for the second best of any golfer on day two. Third place David Rawluk of Charlotte shot a 68. Galleti’s two under round moved him 40 spots on the leader board. He is now tied for 29th. Also in the group of golfers tied for 29th is Tarquin MacManus. MacManus, who was tied for 30th after day one, shot a 76. Jonathon Khan is tied for 44th with a total of nine strokes over par. Philip Bagdade dropped from 42nd to 57th after his round of 79. Tyler Neal’s 83 in the first round did not count towards the team’s total, but shot an 80 on day two that did count towards Arizona’s total. Brad Nicholson struggled to a round of 84.
