PULLMAN, Wash. - The No. 13 Arizona volleyball team remained undefeated in Pac-10 play with a sweep (37-35, 30-22, 30-15) of Washington State tonight. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 11-1 overall and 3-0 in the Pac-10.
Arizona hit .351 on the match, compared to the .128 of the Cougars, but was out-blocked 12.5 to 10. The Wildcats had 20 more kills (63 to 43) and 20 more assists (58 to 38) than Washington State.
"It's always good to win," Head Coach David Rubio said. "We didn't play well, especially in the first game, but it was good enough to win."
Senior Kim Glass led Arizona with 16 kills and 10 digs, her seventh double-double of the season. Senior Jennifer Abernathy (13 kills, 13 digs) and junior Kristina Baum (14 kills, 11 digs) also posted double-doubles. Baum also added four blocks. Senior Bre Ladd rounded out the group of four Wildcats in double-digit kills with 11. She also tallied six blocks.
Sophomore setter Amy Dyck finished with 52 assists and nine digs, while freshman libero Brittany Leonard tallied 13 digs.
Arizona faces No. 2 Washington at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 1. "This match will be a good measuring stick for us," Rubio said. "It will allow us to see where we are among the top teams in the country.
