TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona men's and women's swimming teams held their annual intrasquad pentathlon on Saturday, October 26th. Both the men's and women's teams were split in two after which they competed against one another. This meet was a valuable chance for the Wildcats to participate in a competitive meet atmosphere before the season opener next weekend.

For the Arizona men, Freshman Dave Rollins looked very impressive in winning two different events, the 100 back (52.98) and the 100 IM (54.87). Junior All-American Eric la Fleur also looked strong in his victory in the 100 free (47.60). Juniors Greg Owen and Juan Veloz placed first in the 100 breast and 100 fly with times of 59.71 and 52.40, respectively.

On the Arizona women's side, Junior Emily Mason appeared to be ready for the season as she touched the wall first in the 100 IM (58.94). Fellow junior Jessica Wagner placed first in the 100 breast in the time of 1:03.06. The freshman duo of Lisa Pursley and Marshi Smith excelled in the water by winning the 100 fly and 100 free with times of 55.30 and 51.30, respectively.
