TUCSON, Ariz.??C The No. 4 Arizona womenˇ?s and No. 4 Arizona menˇ?s swimming and diving teams got off to a good start Friday afternoon at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center when they took on the Wisconsin Badgers. The womenˇ?s team defeated the No. 16 rated Badgers 166-128 while the men won 172-116.

Starting the action on the womenˇ?s side was the 200 medley relay team of Hailey DeGolia, Annie Chandler, Lara Jackson and Taylor Baughman who won with a time of 1:40.65. Jackson also finished first in the 50 yard free with a time of 22.70. DeGolia also came in first place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 54.23.

Other Wildcat first place finishers included: Annie Chandler in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:01.96), Lara Jackson in 50 free with a time of 22.70, Courtney Cashion in the 100 yard free (50.51), Jacquelyn Craft in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:16.55 and Ana Agy in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 55.03.

In the diving well for the women, senior Holly Kast won the 1 meter diving competition with a score of 241.57. Allison Scaife finished second in the 1 meter competition (239.54), but finished in first in the 3 meter competition with a score of 250.58.

The menˇ?s team started their day off with the same results as the womenˇ?s team when they had a victory in the 200 yard medley relay (1:30.21). The team included Albert Subirats, Ivan Barnes, Darian Townsend and Jordan Smith. Townsend also finished first in the 200 yard freestyle (1:37.47) and the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 44.83.

Freshmen Cory Chitwood also had a day to remember coming in first in both the 100 yard backstroke (50.20) and the 200 yard backstroke (1:49.83). Other first place finishers for the Wildcats included: Matt Biel in the 1000 yard free (9:28.68), Marcus Titus in the 100 yard breaststroke (56.19), Nicholas Nilo in the 50 free (20.70) and in the 200 yard breaststroke, Josh Arreguin finished first with a time of 2:04.79.

On the diving side, senior Matt Bisordi finished first in both the 1 meter (309.14) and 3 meter (374.03) competition. Freshman Ben Grado came in second place in the 3 meter competition with 324.37 points.

The Wildcats will return to competition when Southern Cal travels to Tucson to face the Cats on November 9th at 2 p.m. at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.
