TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona freestyle swimmer Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or was named as the Counsilman-Hunsaker National Swimmer of the Week today by collegeswimming.com.
Shapira Bar-Or helped lead Arizona to a 190-110 victory over USC by achieving four NCAA "B" cuts and three victories. He won the 100 freestyle (43.81, NCAA "B" cut), the 200 freestyle (1:35.96, NCAA "B" cut), and placed second in the 100 butterfly (47.91).
The Olympic semifinalist also anchored the winning 200 free relay (1:19.75, 19.75- split, NCAA "B" cut).
As far as national event rankings go, the Jerusalem native currently holds the fastest time swum in the 200 freestyle and ranks third in the country in both the 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly.
The UA swimmers are now gearing up for the Texas Hall of Fame Invitational held over the first week of December where they'll look to achieve NCAA automatic cut times.
