TUCSON--Summer Richardson pitched a two-hitter and provided an insurance run with a home run to help pace Cal State Northridge to a 3-1 victory over Eastern Michigan in second-day action of Arizona's round-robin Worth Invitational softball tournament.
The Matadors scored an unearned run in the top of the third after a two-out errror by EMU third baseman Liz Flack. Christen Bedwell walked, stole second and reached third on the error, then Sondra Milchiker singled through the left side.
CSN (9-8) went up 2-0 on Amber Copelan's RBI single in the fourth, but the Eagles (1-2)answered with a run from their first hit off Matadors pitcher Summer Richardson. Christie Koester walked to open the inning, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Lauren Allen's single through the left side.
Richardson hit her third home run of the weekend, a solo shot to center, to push the lead back to two runs, 3-1.
