TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona volleyball team competed in the second Red-Blue scrimmage at McKale Center this afternoon, its last competition before the season starts next week. The Red Team, comprised of starters, defeated the Blue Team, composed of reserves, former All-American setter Dana Burkholder and two male players, 3-1 (30-27, 30-27, 30-25, 11-15).
Senior Jennifer Abernathy led all players with 17 kills. She also added eight digs. Senior Kim Glass finished with a double-double -- 14 kills and 11 digs. Meanwhile, senior Bre Ladd and junior Kristina Baum tallied 10 kills apiece. Sophomore setter Amy Dyck dished out 47 assists and sophomore Katie Jackels had eight digs for the Red Team.
The Blue Team was led by freshman Randy Goodenough, who finished with 11 kills and eight digs. Fellow freshman Brooke Buringrud had nine kills, seven digs and four service aces.
UP NEXT: The Wildcats open the 2005 season with the Four Points University Plaza Wildcat Classic Thursday-Saturday, Sept. 1-3, at McKale.
