University of Arizona womenˇ?s golfer Alison Walshe will easily advance to the match play portion of the 2007 U.S. Amateur Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.

Walshe, a senior-to-be from Westford, Mass., carded identical one-under 71s in the two rounds of stroke play. Her two-under 142 tally means that she will easily make the 64-woman cut for match play. As of 4:20 p.m. PDT, she was in a tie for ninth place with roughly one-third of the field still on the course.

The first round of match play begins tomorrow. Pairings and tee times are to be determined.

The 107th U.S. Womenˇ?s Amateur Championship runs through Aug. 12. Crooked Stick is a par-72, 6,595-yard layout.
