SANTA ANA, Calif. ?- Jackie Zinke an incoming freshman on the Arizona women’s soccer team received the honor of having her high school jersey retired on April 20.  This was the third time that Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif. has retired a soccer player’s number in 17 years.

“When I found out I was surprised but it was an amazing feeling,” Zinke said.  “I feel very honored for having my jersey retired.  I think it shows that I am a hard worker and through hard work comes success.”

Zinke’s jersey will be displayed in the Hall of Fame in the school’s new athletic complex.

“Jackie has meant a great deal to the Mater Dei High School girls soccer program,” head coach Matty West said.  “She has been 4 year starter leading the Monarchs to two CIF Championship games while winning one this year.  Her determination and hard-work have created a competitive environment for other players to thrive.  I am extremely proud of the Jackie's contributions on and off the field.”
