Jonelle Streed is in her first year as an assistant coach after having spent the previous two seasons as the program’s graduate assistant video coordinator. She is responsible for perimeter player development, recruiting, scouting, floor work and assisting with the Joan Bonvicini Hoop Camp.
Streed came to Arizona from Stanford, where she served as an intern with the women’s basketball team during the 2003-04 season. Among her responsibilities were breaking down film, organizing film exchange, assisting with on-campus recruiting, directing pre-game kids clinics, organizing the AAU and recruit database, designing a bi-monthly newsletter, assisting with opponent scouting and covering visiting team practice. She was also involved with camp registration and organization.
Streed has previously coached the St. Cloud Comets AAU team for two years. She has also served as a camp counselor at the St. Cloud State University, Cambridge Isanti High School (Minn.) and Miller High School (S.D.) camps.
Streed played collegiate basketball at St. Cloud State, a Division II school, from 2000-03. She appeared in every game and set a school record for three-pointers with 87. She was voted team captain and MVP as a senior, and in her final game had career-highs of 32 points and seven treys.
In high school, Streed was a Minnesota Miss Basketball Finalist and set the Cambridge-Isanti High School record for career points with 1,799.
A native of Cambridge, Minn., Streed graduated magna cum laude from St. Cloud State in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and a minor in coaching. She earned a master’s degree in educational psychology with a physical education emphasis from the U of A in May 2006.
