UA sophomore swimmer Jack Brown today earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII second-team honors.

Brown and other student-athletes were chosen as men's at-large selections for various sports.

The individual medley and breastroke specialist from Atlanta. Ga., carries a 3.78 grade point average in psychology.

He was part of Arizona's first men's NCAA Championship team this spring, earning double All-American honors with a sixth place finish in the 400 individual medley and an eighth place in the 200IM. He also qualified in the 200 breast and finished 31st in the preliminaries.

He was fifth in the Pac-10 Championships in the 200IM and seventh in the 400IM. Brown earned first-team Pac-10 All-Academic honors earlier this year. Members of CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America Association, select all-academic honorees in membership-wide voting.
