TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona sophomore right-hander Preston Guilmet has been named to the Collegiate Baseball/Louisville Slugger All-America team, the publication announced on Wednesday. The first-team honors are the first for any Arizona pitcher in the 11-year history of Collegiate Baseball's All-America team and the first for a Wildcat team member since Trevor Crowe (1st team), Nick Hundley (2nd team) and Jordan Brown (3rd team) were recognized at the end of the 2005 season.
Guilmet, the 2007 Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year and a semifinalist for the Roger Clemens Award, leads the Wildcats into the postseason with an 11-2 record, 133 strikeouts and 1.79 ERA in 126 innings pitched. He is scheduled to start Arizona's regional-opening game against Oral Roberts on Friday at the Wichita Regional. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. MST and the game can be heard live on the radio on 1290 AM in Tucson.
