TUCSON, Ariz. -

Arizona women's tennis opens its spring season on Saturday, Jan. 21 at Tucson Country Club in a dual match versus No. 63 UC Santa Barbara. The match is slated to begin at 11 a.m.

The No. 32 Wildcats feature three singles players that were recognized in the preseason ITA rankings. Senior Natasha Marks (Nottingham, England) is ranked No. 57, sophomore Kim Stubbe (Mol, Belgium) is ranked No. 72 and sophomore Lacey Smyth (Oceanside, Calif.) earned a No. 107 ranking.

Marks and Stubbe come into the season with a No. 49 doubles ranking.

In addition to Marks, Stubbe and Smyth, Arizona returns seniors Sarah Landsman (Syosset, N.Y.) and Debora Castany (Barcelona, Spain) and sophomore Susan McRann (Dublin, Ireland).

The Wildcats also welcome two newcomers to the team in freshmen Laura Oldham (Sheffield, England) and Hailey Johnson (San Diego, Calif.).

The Gauchos are led by seniors Natalia Lozano and Sofia Novak. Saturday's match is UCSB's first of the spring season as well.

After advancing to the NCAA Tournament in 2011, Arizona posted a successful fall season in which Marks advanced to the semifinals in the ITA Regional Tournament in October and Stubbe advanced to the final round of the Memphis Invitational in November.
