TOLEDO, Ohio--The Arizona at Toledo 2010 football opener for both schools this September has been announced by host UT for an 8 p.m. kickoff on Friday, Sept. 3, to accommodate an ESPN national cablecast.

UT Athletic Director Mike O'Brien announced today the date switch from Sept. 4 as part of ESPN's third annual Kickoff Week schedule.

"We are pleased to be a part of ESPN's Kickoff Week schedule during the opening weekend of 2010 college football action," said O'Brien. "We anticipate a terrific matchup in the Glass Bowl against a strong Pac-10 program in Arizona."

Arizona interim athletics director Kathleen "Rocky" LaRose concurred. "It's a fine way to open the season, in a matchup that showcases both teams in the national limelight."

The selection by ESPN gives Arizona three confirmed television games prior to the May 1 and June 1 TV selections by the Pacific-10 Conference broadcast partners. All three are non-Saturday contests. The other two are a Friday, Nov. 26, game at Oregon with the television entity to be determined and a Thursday, Dec. 2, contest in Arizona Stadium  at 6 p.m. on ESPN.

League TV partners make their first round of selections in May, a second in June and then move to a 12- or 6-day process during the season. Additionally, other games may be shown through UA's contract with IMG Sports on a local or regional basis.

That puts start times for most games to be announced until later dates, LaRose said. Arizona default kickoff times for home games are 7 p.m. in September, and 4 p.m. in October and thereafter. Default kick times for road games - strictly tentative - this year are 2 p.m. PST at WSU, and 12:30 p.m. PST at UCLA, Stanford and Oregon.
