Interim head coach Russ Pennell
On bringing Jamelle Horne off the bench tonight
"I just wanted to do something to shake up the team. There really isn't anything hidden in that. I just felt we needed a change. When he did enter the game I thought he provided us with a lot of energy and was a spark off the bench."
On the team's performance
"I think we are starting to come together. Both Zane (Johnson) and Kyle (Fogg) have been gaining confidence through their time on the floor. Everything about this year is a little unconventional, the fact that I'm even sitting here is unconventional. There will be ups and downs within a season. I believe we're growing as a team and showing some fight."
On Chase Budinger's night
"I don't think Chase was locked down at all tonight. He let the game come to him and didn't try to force anything. That is why I believe he is such a special player. That was probably the best one for nine shooting game I've witnessed.
On the tough non-conference schedule
"I'm happy we came through this stretch pretty well. I'm just as happy as I can be. It should give our team some momentum as we approach conference play."
On Kansas and Coach Self
"We wanted to stress in practice how physical of a team Kansas is. They'll hit you, and I mean that in a good way. Coach Self is a very tough-minded coach."
Arizona Player Quotes
Sophomore Forward Jamelle Horne
On "pulling the team back into the game" off the bench:
"I won't say I pulled the team back into the game. We were playing well from the jump."
On not starting:
"Coach Pennell told me I wasn't playing hard enough, which is understandable, and I came out and responded, obviously. It was just a great game."
On being included in the team's "big 4":
"Fogg had a hell of game too. It was a big 5 tonight."
Comparing Kansas and UNLV:
"Kansas was a better team, but UNLV came out and dogged us. That was their goal, and they beat us by playing hard. Kansas is a young team with a great coach, just as we are."
On Kansas' defensive plan to take out Budinger:
"They had Morningstar just chasing him around. He's not the most athletic guy, but he was able to do a good job on Chase, basically take him out of the game by just dogging him."
Freshman Guard Kyle Fogg:
On playing Kansas:
"I was excited to play them from the beginning of the season. I saw they were a great team when they won the national championship last year. They were a great team today, but we brought our `A' game and beat them."
On succeeding in the future:
"I think we have to keep our intensity up. I think after the Gonzaga game our intensity dropped off a little bit. We wanted to go out tonight and get a `W' with our intensity and that's what we did."
