On Arizona's outlook for the final game of the season:
"As far as building emotion, it builds. You don't have to say very much because so many other people are talking. This is the last week for our seniors, and it's their last real game. It is the game that means the most to a senior, and it is even more special when you get to play at home. It's neat for an athlete to be able to finish his career in a game like our game."
"It would be good to move up into seventh place in the conference. That would be ahead of where everyone picked us to finish. We would be exceeding expectations, and it would be quite a rise over the last couple of weeks."
"I'm glad we didn't play last week. I don't think that we would have been ready emotionally coming off the week before. It was a good week for us to get a little time off, and it was a good time for the players to relax and regenerate. We had some really good workouts last week. They did a good job of getting focused for a couple days."
On the Arizona State Sun Devils:
"We really are pretty similar in a lot of areas. The biggest difference is that they've sacked the quarterback a lot, and we've been sacked a lot. Protecting the quarterback will be one of they key points in the game. We have to keep players like Terrell Suggs from adding to his already NCAA single-season record of 20 sacks. We have some plans in order, and we are working on some things. We know that it will not be an easy task because he is such a good player."
"Offensively, they go deep better than anybody in the league. They have a very speedy receiver in Shaun McDonald, and he can really fly down the field. Last year, they tried going deep to him a couple times and missed on him, but they were trying last year to get to him the same way. This year, they have connected with Andrew Walter throwing many times against some of the best defenses in our league. We need to make sure that we are close to him and get enough pressure on the quarterback so that he doesn't have the time to find him (McDonald). Andrew Walter has excellent range and accuracy, and he has a nice feel for the deep ball."
"Terrell Suggs is the best pass rusher in college football, and there is no question about that. It has been hard for teams to shut him off because he is on either side of the line, and he's doing a lot. He is so fast; he takes off and he goes, and he outruns people to the quarterback. He has counter moves, and he uses them, but his strength is his speed."
On the running game:
"Both teams are under 100 yards a game rushing. They went through injuries with their running backs just the same way we did. We probably both are at the same point health wise with the run game. We have some players coming back who can run. We haven't run very well, but this is a game where we would both like to run well. We would like to get the ball in the hands of the backs and let them be more a part of the game as runners as opposed to receivers."
"Mike Bell will probably get the start; he is feeling better than he has since he hurt his toe at Washington. Gilbert Harris will start at fullback; he has come on faster than any of the young guys. He has really come on for someone who didn't play until the eighth game of the season."
