Throughout the Arizona Wildcat women's golf season, senior Alejandra Llaneza will keep a weekly blog about life and golf in the Pac-10. Check back for more updates from Ale!
Hello Wildcat Fans!
Not much has happened since last week, except that we had a very tough week academically. It was a very busy week with most classes trying to get in another midterm, paper, or presentation before finals. Even with school being busy, we were able to have focused practiced to get ready for regionals. We leave on Tuesday and we found out on Monday that we are going to Seattle. The way that teams get sent to a region is by assigning the top 15 teams randomly instead of in order to make it more even. The top eight teams from each of the three regions qualify for nationals. Our goal is still to win our region.
The weather will be in the 50s and 60s which will be a nice change from the heat here which is already starting to get higher and higher. Coach Laura (Ianello) has played Washington National (the course where we are playing) so she is guiding us on what things to work on to prepare for that course, such as lag putting on two-tier greens. It will be a fun challenge and a change of scenery which I think will be good because it keeps us making sure that we adapt well to different grass and conditions.
This morning was my last mandatory workout with the team. It was a bitter sweet feeling because even though being there at 6 a.m. is not that much fun, working out with the team is. It was great being in there pushing each other and having fun at the same time. I will miss those team activities later on I'm sure.
I hope you can follow our progress at regionals next week! It should be a fun tournament to watch and very exciting!
Until next time!
