LAKESIDE, Calif. - On just a day's rest, the Arizona men's golf team will compete in the Barona Collegiate Cup in Lakeside, Calif., a 16 team event hosted by San Diego State University, March 24 and 25.
The tournament is contested at the Barona Creek Golf Club, a par 72, 7,374 yard course. The three round event will be held over two days with 36 holes on Thursday and 18 on Friday. Both days will begin with a 7:30 a.m. PDT shotgun start.
Breaking from the traditional play five, count four format, the Barona Collegiate Cup is a play six, count five style. The six Wildcat golfers competing will be: Jonathan Khan, Tarquin MacManus, Erik Oja, Juan Pablo Hernandez, Tye Beall and Trent Redfern.
In addition to Arizona the field includes: San Diego State, Arkansas State, Colorado, Loyola Marymount, Nevada, New Mexico, Saint Mary's, San Diego, Santa Clara, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, Utah, UTEP, Wyoming and Xavier.
San Diego State is the defending champion after posting a 1,072 (-8) in the 2010 event. John Chin of UC Irvine won the individual medal at 12-under.

Arizona is coming off a third place finish at NIT that concluded Tuesday. Khan earned his first individual championship in the event, winning the tournament wire to wire.
