TUCSON, Ariz.- The 16th-ranked Arizona volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 sweep over Oregon at McKale Center on Friday. Game scores of the match were 30-20, 30-26, 30-22. The victory improved Arizona's record to 14-9 overall and 9-6 in the Pac-10. The Wildcats have now won eight straight matches over the Ducks (11-18, 1-14 Pac-10).
Freshman Bre Ladd turned in a career night for the Wildcats, tallying 17 kills on 25 attempts with just one error for a match-high .640 hitting percentage. She also added a solo block and six block assists in the victory.
Playing in their final two home matches of the season, seniors Lisa Rutledge and Shannon Torregrosa had 14 and 11 kills, respectively, and redshirt junior Christina Frost stepped in for an ailing Kim Glass with six kills, five digs and three service aces.
As a team the Wildcats dominated on both offense and defense. The Wildcats recorded 55 kills to UO's 32, had five service aces to UO's one and out-blocked the Ducks 11 to 8 at the net.
The Wildcats will close out the home portion of their regular season schedule on Saturday night against Oregon State. The program will honor seniors Lisa Rutledge, Shannon Torregrosa, Rachel Williams, Laurie Gardner and Christina Frost in a ceremony before the 7 p.m. first serve.
Note: The 1,359 fans in attendance helped Arizona smash the single season school attendance record. Arizona has had 25,157 fans at its 11 home matches this season. The previous record was 24,525 set in 2000.
