COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- For the third time in her career, Arizona senior outside hitter Kim Glass has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Pacific Region Team. Meanwhile, fellow senior Jennifer Abernathy has been named an honorable mention selection.
As a first-team selection, Glass advances to the national ballot for All-America consideration, which will be announced next Wednesday, Dec. 14.
Glass, a four-time All-Pac-10 pick, is Arizona’s career leader and ranks fourth all-time in the Pac-10 in kills with 2,082. She has tallied at least 10 kills in all 29 matches this season and leads the team with 19 double-doubles.
In leading Arizona to it’s best-ever seed in the NCAA Tournament (No. 4), Glass led the Pac-10 in kills and points per game. She currently averages 5.35 kills, 3.01 digs, 0.80 blocks and 0.39 service aces per game. Glass was twice named Pac-10 Player of the Week this season.
Abernathy, who was an All-Pac-10 pick for the first time in her career, ranks second on the team in kills (4.09) and digs (3.38). She has posted 15 double-doubles on the year and was named Pac-10 Player of the Week once.
One 12-person team and six honorable mention players are selected per region by member head coaches in the region. The Pacific Region is made up of the schools in the Pac-10, West Coast and Big Sky Conferences.
