New Trials-New Talents

Beginning the season with the tragic loss of Shawntinice "Polkey" Polk on September 26, 2005, the Wildcat women chose to be
"STRONGER THAN EVER".

This year has been full of injuries for the Wildcats, but with each passing game they became stronger and new talents have emerged. This team has had its share of heartache and setbacks this season, but they have been determined to be
"STRONGER THAN EVER".

Class of '06

Arizona Women’s Basketball has recruited potentially one of the best classes at The University of Arizona, according to head coach Joan Bonvicini.

The class includes forwards Rheya and Rhaya Neabors from Troy High School in Chino, California, centers Beatrice and Suzanne Bofia from Illinois Central College by way of Yaounde, Cameroon, and guard Marie McGee of Mayfield High School in Las Cruces, N.M.

The Neabors twins, nicknamed the “Twin Powers,” can play any position from post to point.  They are coming from a high school where the style of play is similar to The University of Arizona, an up-tempo and pressing style of basketball.

The Bofia twins, nicknamed the “Twin Towers,” are the tallest twins in the world, standing at 6-6 and 6-7.  Both twins are highly athletic and can play a fast tempo game.  “They are highly skilled with great mobility,” Bonvicini says.

Completing the class is McGee, 5-8 guard.  McGee has twice been named all district and all state honorable mention.  She is an outstanding athlete and will look to play the point and off guard positions.
