CHICAGO - University of Arizona women's golfer Cathie Williamson was named to the National Golf Coaches Association's All-Scholar Team, it was announced Tuesday.
Williamson, a senior from Shelby, Mont., posted an 80.42 stroke average in seven events this season. Her best finish was a tie for 25th place at the Oct. 8-10 Oregon State Invitational, where she carded a three-round total of 228 (+12). It was in that event where Williamson shot her low round of the season, an even-par 72 in the event's first round.
Williamson, who graduated in May with a degree in chemistry and a 3.56 grade point average, is one of 254 NCAA Division I women's golfers to be recognized by the NGCA. To qualify for the NGCA All-Scholar Team, student-athletes must have a 3.50 grade point average and compete in at least 66 percent of her school's regularly-scheduled competitive rounds during the season.
