Cats Sweep Softball Doubleheader With 10-0 Shutout

  • TUCSON--No. 2-ranked Arizona used a big second inning highlighted by Jennie Finch's second home run of the day and one by Lindsey Collins to pace the Wildcats to a 10-0 five-inning victory over Brigham Young and a softball doubleheader sweep.

    Finch tossed a two-hitter and improved her record to 12-0, plus added her 14th home run of the season, a three-run shot to left.

    Arizona (27-1) scored eight times in the second, collecting seven hits and a walk.

    BYU (7-8), playing its first season of NCAA Division I softball, had hits by Liz Smith and Becca Erickson. Maryon Dewitt (3-3) took the loss, allowing 11 hits.
