TUCSON, Ariz.??Arizona's all-time home?run leader Shelley Duncan was called
up to the major leagues by the New York Yankees on Friday. His summons to the
bigs makes him the 57th all-time Wildcat to reach the pinnacle of professional
baseball and the first since Brian Anderson in 2005.

?? ? ? ?A second-round selection by the Yankees in the 2001 MLB draft, Duncan was
batting .295 with 25 homers and 79 RBI for the Class AAA Scranton-Wilkes Barre
Yankees of the International League before being summoned to the majors for the
first time in his professional career. He was named to the Triple A All-Star
Game in Albuquerque earlier this month.

?? ? ? ?A three-year letterwinner for Arizona (1999-2001), Duncan clubbed a school
record 55 home runs in 144 starts. A lifetime .322 hitter at UA, he also
finished his Wildcat career with 26 doubles and 186 RBI. In his junior season
in 2001, Duncan broke UA?s single season home run record by hitting his 23rd
and 24th bombs of the year on the final day of the of the season.

?? ? ? ?Duncan's father, Dave, is the pitching coach for the 2006 World Series
champion St. Louis Cardinals, and his brother, Chris, is an outfielder for the
defending champs.
