FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. ?- The Arizona junior varsity women’s golf team took third place in the Mountain Shootout on Tuesday.
One of the fresh faces on the team this year, Amanda Wilson, led the Cats with a second-place finish. In the first round on Monday, Wilson shot a 76, three over the par 73 course in Flagstaff. On Tuesday, she came out with a bang shooting a 71, which was the best single round of golf of any of the 50 competitors.
Teammate Rachel Gavin shot a combined 151, tying her for fourth place. The other two Wildcats, Brooke Schneider and Brittany Pepler, finished in the top 30.
As a team, Arizona shot a combined 616, two strokes off the 614 mark of champion San Diego State.
Next up for the Wildcats is the Mason Rudolph Championship this weekend in Nashville, Tenn. The junior varsity team next tees off in October at Price’s “Give ?'Em Five” tournament in New Mexico.
