AUSTIN, Tex. - Senior Amanda Wilson and freshman Nikki Koller each shot 76 as Arizona finished in 15th place at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, Sunday afternoon at the University of Texas Golf Club.
While the senior Wilson had a steady round by shooting 38 on each side of the course, Koller bounced back after a rough start on the back side by shooting 1-under on the front nine. Koller had back-to-back birdies on 4 and 5, then also birdied the 9th hole and finished with four birdies on the day. She finished the tournament at 10-over par to share 26th position overall while Wilson ended up at 16-over in a tie for 41st position.
The remaining three Wildcats were all just one shot apart from each other. Freshman Isabelle Boineau finished the round at +6 and ended up at 236 for the three rounds. Brittany Benvenuto trimmed six shots off her round from Saturday to shoot 79 while Emily Mason carded her low round of the weekend at 80 on Sunday.
Arizona ended the tournament at +68 with a three-day total of 932 after finishing with a weekend-low team total of 303. Purdue captured the team title at 8-over 872 with Maria Hernandez of the Boilermakers earning medalist honors at 6-under 210.
The Arizona junior varsity squad will be in action next weekend at the Mountain View Intercollegiate in Saddlebrook, Ariz. The full Wildcat squad returns to play on April 3 at the PING/ASU Invitational in Tempe.
