WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Arizona junior Taryne Mowatt has been named the Pac-10 Softball Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time this season, the conference office announced today.

Mowatt went 3-0 in three complete game performances for the Wildcats, who swept the Oregon schools and clinched the program’s 10th Pac-10 title on Sunday.

Mowatt went seven strong on Friday against the Ducks, striking out 10, while allowing two runs in the Wildcats’ 6-2 win. On Saturday in Corvallis, Mowatt needed to go only five innings as the Arizona offense hung 10 runs on the Beavers. The short stint notwithstanding, Mowatt allowed just one run on three hits and no walks, striking out seven.

The junior picked up her 30th win of the season on Sunday in a 2-0 shutout of Oregon State that clinched the Pac-10 for Arizona with still three games to play. Mowatt allowed only two hits and a walk and fanned eight Beavers for her 12th shutout of the year. Her 30 wins leads all Pac-10 pitchers.

For the week, Mowatt was 3-0 with an ERA of 1.10 (3 ER/19 IP), surrendering just 10 hits and four walks, while striking out 25.  Opposing batters hit .156 against Mowatt.

Arizona (14-3-1 Pac-10, 38-10-1) completes its regular season with a three-game homestand, two against second-place Washington and one against UCLA, currently fourth in the Conference race.

This is Mowatt’s seventh career Pitcher of the Week honor and fourth this season.  It is the 107th Player/Pitcher of the Week award all- time for Arizona.
