TUCSON, Ariz. -- Sophomore Deanna Graham earned the honor of competing as an indivual all-around competitor in this year's NCAA National Championships. Graham earned an all-around score of 39.025, putting her as one of the top three all-around competitors excluding competitors from qualifying teams.
"Deanna has really come into her own as an all-around gymnast. She is becoming quite the competitor; I knew she would be strong on all four events, but I didn't realize how quickly she would become such a strong all-arounder. I am very proud and very excited that she is going to be able to compete." Head Coach Bill Ryden said.
The meet is to be held by the University of Florida, at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center in Gainesville, Fla. April 22-24.
Graham is one of 12 all-around qualifiers to compete (who did not qualify with a team) in the meet.
"I can't say enough to how much Deanna is improving. Deanna is a dangerous vaulter, and an excellent floor performer. She is also becoming extremely strong on beam and is a consistent bar worker. I am excited for her chances at nationals; as long as she stays strong she should be able to do very very well." Ryden said.
Other National Championship Information:
The Championships will include 12 teams who qualified by placing first and second in their respective Regional Competitions, 12 all-around competitors, as well as 12 individual event specialists. The top two all-around winners from each region (who were not on a qualifying team) advanced to nationals, as well as the Regional winners of each individual event if they were not all-around qualifiers or on a national qualifying team.
