The Wildcats shot a -3 (285) in round one and find themselves second out of a 16-team field.
“It was an all-around great team effort,” Head Coach Greg Allen said. “I feel that we have been improving each time we play. It’s nice to see all of our hard work pay off.”
Helping to ensure the second place finish for the Cats was freshman Amanda Wilson, who shot a -4 (68).
“We got a great effort out of Amanda today and hopefully we can expect the same tomorrow,” Allen said.
After shooting a -3 in her final round at the Stanford Women’s Intercollegiate, Cassandra Kirkland continued to demonstrate her abilities today. She shot a -2 (70) and is tied for fifth place.
“Cass birdied three of her last four holes today, finishing very strong and giving the team a lift towards the end,” Allen said.
“There is still a lot of golf to be played, but it’s nice to have such a solid first round,” Allen said. “Hopefully we can come out tomorrow and pick up right where we left off.”
