TUCSON –After day one of the NCAA East Regional Championships, the University of Arizona Wildcat women’s golf team sits in a tie for 11th place, just three strokes from cracking the top eight. Held at the Penn State Blue Golf Course in State College, Pa., competition will take place Thurs.-Sat., May 10-12. The Penn State Blue Golf Course is a par 72, 6,253-yard course.
No. 25 South Carolina leads the team race with an opening round of 288 (E). No. 2 Alabama sits in second place with a score of 292 (+4). No. 15 Florida rounds out the top three with a carding of 294 (+6). No. 18 Arizona sits in a two-way tie for 11th place with a score of 302 (+14). No. 37 Katerina Ruzickova of Texas A&M leads the individual race with a round of 67 (-5).
No. 19 freshman Manon Gidali, No. 85 senior Margarita Ramos and No. 88 senior Isabelle Boineau finished in a 12-way for 39th place. They fired rounds of 75 (+3). Senior Nikki Koller’s opening round of 77 (+5) earned a 13-way tie for 59th-place finish. Junior Kyndall Ardoin rounded out the Arizona five in 109th place. She shot a 10-over 82.
Play will continue on Friday with a 12:56 p.m. ET tee time for the Wildcats. UA will continue to play with No. 12 Texas A&M and No. 15 Florida.
