LONG BEACH, Calif.ˇ?Arizona used this morningˇ?s preliminaries of the Women's Pac-10 Swimming Championships to qualify 17 swimmers for tonightˇ?s finals in three individual events.
Arizona still stands in second place with 116 points after the preliminaries this morning at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach, Calif. California still holds the lead with 118 points.
The first event of the morning was the 500 yard free. Arizona qualified three swimmers for tonightˇ?s final that is slated to begin at 7 p.m.??The three swimmers include: Susana Helms (4:46.02), Joni Keith (4:50.05) and Leone Vorster (4:50.12).
After a quick break, it was time for the 200 yard IM to begin and?Arizona qualified the most swimmers out of any team with seven. Those seven swimmers are: Jenny Forster (2:00.37), Hailey DeGolia (2:00.44), Annie Chandler (2:00.93), Andrea Boritzke (2:01.12), Justine Schluntz (2:02.34), Carley Beaudreau (2:02.87) and Caitlin Iversen (2:03.35).
The final prelim of the morning was the 50 yard free and Arizona followed up their performance in the 200 yard IM with another great showing. Arizona qualified seven swimmers for tonightˇ?s final. The seven swimming tonight are: Lara Jackson (22.39), Emma Darlington (22.55), Taylor Baughman (22.63), Anna Turner (22.64) Lacey Nymeyer (22.75), Lindsey Kelly (22.86) and Brandy Collins (23.14).
Tonight Arizona will look to challenge the lead?when the finals begin at 7 p.m. The first final of the night will be the 500 yard free followed by the 200 yard IM at 7:30. At 7:42 the 50 yard free final will begin. Tonightˇ?s meet will conclude with the 200 yard free relay final at 8:15. UA will swim that event as well.
