Tucson, Ariz. ?- The University of Arizona women’s volleyball team (10-13, 1-10 Pac-10) fell to No. 3 Stanford (19-2, 10-1 Pac-10) in three games on Friday night in McKale Center.  Game scores were 30-17, 30-19, and 30-19.

Junior Dominique Lamb led Arizona with nine kills, and freshman Whitney Dosty added eight kills.

As a team, Arizona hit .138 (34-18-116), as Stanford posted a .350 (55-13-120) hitting percentage in the match.  The Wildcats posted 8.0 team blocks, failing the reach double-digits in blocks for the first time in nine matches.

Stanford used two scoring runs in the first game to cruise to a 30-17 game-one victory.  With Arizona trailing 10-8, the Cardinal used a 9-2 run to take a 19-10 advantage, and tacked on a 9-3 run down the stretch for the 13-point win.  Stanford was powered by a .485 (18-2-33) hitting percentage, compared to a .135 (12-7-37) mark by Arizona.

Stanford reeled out a 30-19 game-two win behind another big scoring run.  The Cardinal jumped out to a 15-8 lead over Arizona, but the Wildcats responded with five-consecutive points to cut the deficit to 15-13.  Stanford countered that with five-straight points of its own on the way to outscoring Arizona 15-6 down the stretch.  Stanford hit .357 (19-4-42) in game two while Arizona managed a .171 (12-5-41) hitting percentage.

Arizona fought Stanford close in game three before the Cardinal pulled away for a 30-19 match-clinching win.  Although Stanford only hit .244 (18-7-45) in the game, the Cardinal used a 10-2 run while leading 12-10 for a commanding 22-12 lead.  Arizona cut the Stanford lead to 26-18, but the Cardinal was too much at the end.

Arizona will next travel to Los Angeles to take on USC on Friday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. (PST).
