TUCSON, Ariz. - The No. 62 Arizona men's tennis team came close to pulling off an upset of the No. 33 Arizona State Sun Devils but fell 4-3.
UA senior Steven Capriati, ranked No. 36, upset ASU's No. 30 ranked Matt Klinger in three sets, 7-6, 0-6, 6-3. In doubles play, Capriati and sophomore Carl Hagman, fell to ASU's No. 15 ranked duo of Klinger and Mitchell Brown, 8-5.
In other singles play, UA sophomore Roeland Brateanu defeated ASU's Olivier Charroin, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. Wildcat freshman Colin O'Grady returned home to Tempe and topped ASU's Chris Stewart, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4.
Arizona continues action on April 25 at the Pac-10 Championships in Ojai, Calif.
