Arizona Hosts Pepsi Softball Classic

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Arizona softball team will host the 2004 Pepsi Softball Classic tournament from Feb. 6-8 at Hillenbrand Stadium. Cal State Northridge, Mississippi, Nevada-Las Vegas and New Mexico will join Arizona in the three-day contest, beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday.

Acting head coach Larry Ray will be at the helm for the Wildcats, assisted by acting associate head coach Nancy Evans. Arizona will face New Mexico and Mississippi at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, and Cal State Northridge and UNLV at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday's matches will be determined by the outcomes of the games on Friday and Saturday.

The tournament marks the first regular-season competition for the Cats, who went suffered only one preseason loss to Pima Community College.
