Arizona Women's Basketball vs. Washington State
January 7, 2010
Friel Court - Pullman, Wash.
Arizona head coach Niya Butts
On importance of first Pac-10 win:
"This is a huge win for us. Our group fought so hard. In our first two conference games, we fell short, but we didn't want to come up here and let one get away on the road. I just want to commend our group for fighting back."
On importance of offensive balance:
"It was important having other people step up. I think having Ify (Ibekwe) step up big in the second half and having Tasha (Dickey) come off the bench was huge in the first half. Not having Reiko Thomas available to play was certainly a problem for us, but Tasha stepped up big. She was 3-for-3 (from the field) and she ran the floor really well. Having Brooke (Jackson) step up in the end and hitting some free throws was huge for us."
On ability to make a quick start to the game:
"I think we were just tired of starting slow. We really emphasized that today at shootaround that we had to get off to a better start. I challenged them to come out in the first four minutes and play tough and they did."
